About Us
First Baptist Church is a loving, growing congregation of Christian disciples whose arms fare open to embrace everyone, just as God embraces us all without distinction. We worship God joyfully and serve Jesus enthusiastically.
Our congregation is part of the Evergreen Association of American Baptist Churches, U.S.A., standing with like-minded congregations in our denomination who share devoted discipleship to the living Christ, reliance upon God’s good news of grace and reconciliation, the affirmation of each person’s soul liberty, and a tradition of local congregational autonomy.

Why are we here?
Our mission in life, succinctly put, is to “be disciples, making disciples.” Disciples are people who follow Jesus, who learn from him, and who then imitate him in love and ministry in the world around us—and the world around us can sure use it!
What does this church offer you?
A place where you matter. Whoever you are, whatever you do, whatever your place of origin, your politics, or your sexual orientation, whether you are as orothodox as the day is long or you find yourself crossing your fingers at certain nuances of doctrine, you matter to us and we will love you because you matter to God and God loves you. Period. Others may attach strings to accepting people as they are. Not us.
Worship that matters. Our worship follows the yearly cycle of remembrance and participation on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, our Lord. All of us participate in lifting up these services of worship to God. The preaching will get your attention and keep you awake. The music is rich, varied, and always top notch. The feeling you go away with is, “I’ve really been to worship!”
A place to explore and express your faith. The congregation engages in Christian learning and spiritual growth for people of every age. There is age appropriate learning opportunity for children from pre-kindergarten through elementary school levels, from Junior High through Senior High, along with boys groups, girls groups, and youth groups. Adults get together for weekday and weeknight learning opportunities, small group experiences, and for gatherings on Sunday mornings that include First Baptist Café, a new multi-subject twist on the old idea of Sunday School.
An opportunity to get your hands dirty doing something worthwhile. Gone are the days when we conceived of “mission” as giving money to pay somebody to do stuff somewhere else on our behalf. Our mission is to be disciples serving the world around us with gracious invitation and with the hard work of justice and mercy starts right outside our front door.
